Why Return to the Moon After 50 Years? Minerals and Water as Keys to the Future
The Artemis program by NASA has cost approximately 93 billion US dollars to date. It has required the work of thousands of people over many years and aims to establish a human presence on the Moon, as well as explore resource extraction.
More than 50 years ago, the Apollo missions took the first humans to the lunar surface. However, lunar exploration did not end there.
According to planetary scientist Sara Russell, “the Moon contains the same elements found on Earth.”
These include:
- Rare earth elements (essential minerals for modern technology)
- Iron and titanium
- Helium
- And especially water
Water is the most important resource, as it not only enables life but can also be converted into fuel for space missions.
In simple terms:
the Moon could become a strategic station for humanity.
