How will our post-Covid ecological footprint change?

We are in the presence of a new post-coronavirus reality. Many persist in believing that after mass vaccination, everything will immediately return to the usual consumer reality that we had before this crisis. Others bet on radical and necessary changes in our lifestyle, changing negative and harmful habits, thus creating greater awareness about the ecological footprint that we are leaving on humanity and therefore on our planet earth.

What we can do is understand our personal ecological footprint in light of the changes that are happening now in the midst of the pandemic and its impact on the environment.

For example, the weeks of confinement have allowed us to examine our homes, which will allow us to have a better appreciation for good ventilation, sunlight, living space and accessibility.

One aspect that leaves a mark on the environment is artificial air conditioning. In this sense, attention has been paid to the need to consume energy more efficiently, thus reducing the expense that these obsolete systems generate. Another particular aspect of the transformation of our habits is the consumption of water. Greater awareness is being created in the unbalanced consumption of this resource, which in the future will be extremely expensive and scarce.

An additional aspect that stands out during confinement is the preference for buying fresh food and cooking vs. processed foods even from fast food chains. Something began to change and with it, the mark we are leaving for future generations.
