The three environmental technologies that will shape our future

According to Gustavo Copelmayer, we live in a critical time, both for humanity and for the planet.

The World Economic Forum has highlighted that five of the 10 technologies that will impact the future will be focused on solving the problem of the climate crisis. Better batteries to store renewable energy or less polluting fertilizers are among the most outstanding solutions to achieve a more sustainable planet. In this article, three of the technologies will be mentioned, which, when well worked, could change the course of many things.

For Gustavo Copelmayer, in addition to improving the efficiency of linear production processes, the circular economy should help us reuse those elements that have traditionally been considered waste. This sustainable development strategy aims to produce goods and services while reducing consumption and waste of raw materials, water or energy.

Solar tiles

Solar shingles, the brainchild of the well-known Elon Musk, could soon become a staple feature of the modern green home. Solar tiles work in the same way as solar panels, by converting sunlight into electricity. However, instead of becoming an obvious fixture in your home, you can attach them to your ceiling to match your desired design, just like regular tiles. Made from tempered glass, solar tiles are also three times stronger than standard tiles. This is not infallible, because cloudy and rainy days exist, so a system that stores energy should be considered for these cases and a reserve for the seasons in which sunny days are scarce.

Cartridge Recycling

Thousands of printer cartridges hit the landfill every hour. Carbon, plastic particles and coloring agents contained in toner and ink cartridges are poisons that are difficult for Mother Nature to break down. It is clear that there was a huge business behind the creation of poor quality toners and with less capacity, all to increase purchases and in the long run profits … So what can be done? Well, improving these products, so that they are easy to recycle, would also be necessary campaigns that publicize places to leave toners. that can no longer be recovered and where to leave the already useless dust that remains in the waste container of each toner, all with the idea of preventing it from damaging our fragile ecosystem even more.

Electric Cars

Electric cars emit 66% less carbon dioxide than gasoline and diesel vehicles, and since the automotive and transportation industry is responsible for about 75% of carbon emissions, this is an important statistic. The electricity used to charge the car can also come from renewable sources like solar or wind power. The production of electric cars is also more environmentally friendly than the manufacture of gasoline or diesel cars and uses predominantly environmentally friendly materials. They are already working on systems that combine solar panels with these cars, to recharge them still in use. Another mechanism to take into account would be wind generators in a strategic location, so that they generate and store, providing the car with two sources of energy.
