The “Blue Moon”, the rare cosmic event this October 31

Occasionally in the world some natural and astronomical phenomena happen that surprise and fascinate us. For Gustavo Copelmayer, the blue moon is one of these curious phenomena, that although many think that it will not be seen again until 2039, the truth is that this event occurs approximately every 2.5 years and can be seen on October 31, 2020.

But will the moon be blue, turquoise or something like that?

No, although its name is directly “Blue Moon”, this does not mean that we will see a blue moon literally. So let’s not get so excited.

So what happens on the Blue Moon?

Gustavo Copelmayer explains that the third or fourth full moon that is present in a single season is called Blue Moon. It means that there will be two full moons that month. In this year 2020, one on October 1 and the last on October 31.

The blue moon is a very interesting phenomenon that happens between the solstice and the equinox, and it will repeat itself in August 2023.
