2021 will be the year to recycle
Visible damage to ecosystems has awakened in younger populations a trend for sustainability. More and more people are incorporating reusable products into their daily lives, says Gustavo Copelmayer.
For example, he adds, the market for reusable bags is only projected to grow from $6 billion in 2019 to $ 10 billion in 2025, according to a recent Zero Waste Lifestyle System market study report.
Millennials, in particular, are more conscientious of their carbon footprint, so they will consume products from companies that have sustainable programs such as recycling, reuse and the creation of biodegradable materials.
Gustavo Copelmayer adds that more and more cities are offering food products in bulk to avoid unnecessary plastic packaging. Buying without waste is a crucial positive trend for both businesses and consumers. This shows a change from individuals to entrepreneurs who have seen the need to respond to the imminent ecological challenges of our only home, planet Earth.
Another positive trend is that companies selling products with little or no packaging will be able to survive the recycling crisis caused by the abrupt interruption of imported waste from China and this situation will enable them to evolve and change consumers’ perceptions about packaging, concludes Gustavo Copelmayer.
