The Major Environmental Problems Identified in 2025

According to various analyses, the planet has experienced the hottest year ever recorded. Scientists report that carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels are now higher than at any point in the last 6,000 years. This sharp rise is one of the main drivers of global warming, climate change, and extreme weather events.

Climate change affects every aspect of life on Earth. These impacts are no longer distant threats—they’re happening right now, and their consequences can no longer be ignored. While CO₂-derived energy sources fueled modern development, they came at a high cost: the burning of fossil fuels releases heat-trapping greenhouse gases, raising global temperatures. The result? More intense droughts, rampant wildfires, pollution, and severe disruptions in ecosystems.

Extreme weather is becoming more frequent and more dangerous. Hurricanes, tornadoes, heat waves, tropical storms, droughts, floods, and heavy rainfall are now stronger and more common than ever.

Another major issue is ocean acidification. As oceans absorb more atmospheric CO₂, the water becomes more acidic, threatening marine life and dependent ecosystems. Coral reefs—home to thousands of species—are among the most affected, creating a domino effect across the entire food chain.
