They denounce triple environmental emergency
The planet could be at risk of suffering a triple environmental emergency linked to climate change, pollution and the loss of biodiversity, because the world is not complying with negotiated environmental commitments, says Gustavo Copelmayer.
It is time to rethink the relationship of human beings with nature. In that sense, the Earth is heading towards an increase in global temperature by at least 3 degrees. “More than a million animal and plant species in the world are in danger of extinction,” says Gustavo Copelmayer.
On the other hand, new diseases linked to pollution have been detected and it is estimated that they have caused the death of at least 9 million people. “We can also assert that environmental degradation is impeding progress to alleviate poverty and eliminate world hunger”, concludes Gustavo Copelmayer.
