Air pollution kills

We cannot stop breathing, otherwise we would surely die. More than 10,000 liters of air pass through our lungs every day. Air pollution in cities and rural areas around the world causes seven million premature deaths each year.

This mortality is due to the exposure of tiny particles that cause cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. It is a complex mixture of solid particles, liquid droplets, and chemical gases that are formed from industrial emissions, burning of solid fuels, automotive traffic, and many other sources.

The poor quality of the air we breathe is making us sick and killing us. Breathing polluted air has negative impacts on almost every organ in our body, including our brain, they can even cross the maternal placental barrier during pregnancy.

90% of the world’s population lives in places where international guidelines on air quality are not respected. The longer we are exposed and the higher the pollution levels, the more risk to our health.
