Women assume environmental care
Habits and awareness of sustainability grow as a contribution of home education thanks to women’s initiatives. The increase in ecological knowledge by women after confinement due to Covid-19 is notable, which, according to surveys, the measure reaches 96% in households surveyed in European countries.
The issues that most impact the female population, mothers or heads of household, are water scarcity (73%), diseases related to pollution (69%) and the loss of ecosystems and biodiversity (67%). Likewise, certain sustainable habits in households were measured, such as recycling organic waste and saving in electricity consumption.
Due to the feminine nature of protecting their children and future generations, mothers are alarmed by the environment in which their children will live and up to 60% of women are more aware of the need to take care of the environment. There is only a very small percentage of 2% who still deny the existence of climate change.
It is for this reason that the women consulted, confess that they have been incorporating sustainable habits into their daily routines. Eighty percent of those surveyed believe that caring for the environment is one of the great challenges that society has, and therefore, in the last two years, sustainable habits have been developed in homes.
The woman is the member of the family most involved with the environment since it is shown that in 82% of the cases, they carry out sustainable tasks and believe that it is the best way to teach their children to be ecological. Almost 100% of the population consulted, agrees that sustainable lifestyles must be included in education, so 78% assure that educational centers play a fundamental role in training on environmental matters.
